The Greco-Romans – by Richard Rives

TO HEAR A 2 MIN. JUST THE FACTS AUDIO SEGMENT RELATING TO THIS SUBJECT:

By now, it should be no surprise that the Greco-Roman gods were also sun gods.

Greece or Grecia had very little immediate significance to the writers of the Old Testament. From a prophetic stand point, however, Greece was extremely important.

The prophet Daniel relating a vision he had been given, foretold of the fall of the Medo-Persian empire and the rise of the powerful Grecian empire of Alexander the Great.

“The ram which thou sawest having two horns are the kings of Media and Persia. And the rough goat is the king of Grecia: and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king.”

At the height of his power, in 323 B.C., Alexander the Great died in Babylon having Continue reading “The Greco-Romans – by Richard Rives”

The mystery god Mithra – by Richard Rives

TO HEAR A 2 MIN. JUST THE FACTS AUDIO SEGMENT RELATING TO THIS SUBJECT:

How does one begin to explain the very important connection between Mithraism and the paganizing of the true worship of God and His only begotten Son?

To begin with, Mithras was the sun god of the Persians and subsequent empires including the Roman Empire through the 4th century. During the 4th century, Mithras “mysteriously” vanished and Roman “Christianity” began. A Christianity not like that of the 1st century; but, a polluted, corrupt “Christianity” lacking few Mithraic rituals.

Mithras was invoked in the inscriptions of the Biblical Artaxerxes, king of Babylon: making Mithras one of the Continue reading “The mystery god Mithra – by Richard Rives”

The Medo-Persians – by Richard Rives

The Medo-Persian empire continued the tradition of sun worship. As Medo-Persia indicates, it is a kingdom derived from the combination of the Medes and the Persians. This combination took place under the ruler-ship of Cyrus the Great. The Biblical Darius was also one of the famous Medo-Persian kings. Both Cyrus and Darius are important characters as they were instrumental in the return of Judeans to Jerusalem after the Babylonian captivity.

The earliest form of the religion of the Medo-Persians is described in ancient manuscripts known as the Zendavesta. Ahura-Mazda was known as the creator of all things: heaven and earth, light and darkness, the originator of all laws and judge of the world. Continue reading “The Medo-Persians – by Richard Rives”

The Babylonians – by Richard Rives

The next civilization was that of Babylonia. They too were sun worshipers. During the Biblical time of the Judges, wars were being fought between the Assyrians and the Babylonians. Merodach-Baladan extended his empire to include upper Babylon and at that time he became known as the “King of Babylon”.

Quoting Isaiah Chapter 39

“At that time Merodach-Baladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah: for he had heard that he had been sick, and was recovered. And Hezekiah was glad of them, and shewed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not. Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country unto me, even from Babylon. Then said he, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All that is in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them. Then said Isaiah to Hezekiah, Hear the word of the LORD of hosts: Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.”

As was prophesied: “In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his army against Jerusalem, and they besieged it. And in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, the ninth day of the month, the city was broken up.”

The Assyrians – by Richard Rives

The Assyrian Monarchy followed that of the Chaldeans. The worship of the Assyrians seems to be identical with that of the Chaldeans with the exception that Asshur was considered the universal god.

Shalmaneser III, King at the time the Black-Obelisk was inscribed, honors Bel, the father of the gods, Beltis, the mother of the gods, and the sun god Shamas and Ishtar at the beginning of the inscription. He calls Asshur the king of all the four regions, the sun god of the multitude of mankind.

King Sennacherib of 2 Kings 19, and Isaiah 37: was a sun worshiper. Continue reading “The Assyrians – by Richard Rives”

The Chaldeans – by Richard Rives

TO HEAR A 2 MIN. JUST THE FACTS AUDIO SEGMENT RELATING TO THIS SUBJECT:

The first six chapters of the book deal directly with sun worship as it can be traced historically throughout the centuries. From Ancient times sun worship has been the apostate form of religion which Satan has chosen to oppose the true worship of the Creator. Through every known civilization sun worship influenced the thoughts and actions of mankind.

The Chaldeans worshiped the sun god. So did the Assyrians. The Babylonians – The Medo-Persians -The Grecians – and the Romans were sun worshipers. And even today, by way of the mystery of iniquity, the sun worship of previous centuries is disguised to the extent that it is now accepted by the majority as that of Biblical Christianity.

Soon after the global flood of Noah’s day, Nimrod, Noah’s great grandson, the son of Cush began the kingdom of Babel. The civilization he started is known by historians as that of the Chaldeans.

There is evidence that the Chaldeans knew ELOHIM of Genesis who created heaven and earth. What a shame that Continue reading “The Chaldeans – by Richard Rives”

Another Jesus – by Richard Rives

Scriptures warn us to beware of those preaching “another Jesus””…if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.”

Sol Invictus / Mithra

What would be considered “another Jesus”? The Greek word used in this scripture verse is”allos” meaning different. So what we are considering is a different Jesus; not the Jesus of the Bible, not the only begotten Son of God, but another Jesus — an impostor.

Today there are worldly wise, philosophers “vain in their imaginations” who using the example of Jesus teach men to disobey Gods commandments. They are preaching “Another Jesus”. Many pagan practices that have absolutely no scriptural basis have been Continue reading “Another Jesus – by Richard Rives”

Saved by Grace – Go and sin no more

INTRODUCTION

While it is true that legal matters can become very confusing, it must be remembered that Gods laws are plain and simple. They can be written in one paragraph, memorized by the smallest child and as the Bible states, are not grievous.

In an age when many turn the grace of God into lasciviousness, there are those, professing themselves to be wise, who attempt to persuade that the laws of God are now void and of no value. Such persuasion can be described in no better way than what the Bible calls “vain deceit.”

Jesus Christ, our Creator, the law giver, and our Savior said that until heaven and earth pass away, not even the slightest thing concerning the law will change. We are told that sin is the transgression of the law and that Christ died for the remission of sins. In fact, if any of the commandments could have been changed, sin could have been redefined, and He would not have had to die.

We are also given Biblical warning that through the sacrificial death of Christ – as payment for our sins – and through faith in his shed blood, we Continue reading “Law and Grace – by Richard Rives”
